This is why we Blog, Part 2

October 22nd, 2011 | Comment

In part 1 of our series of This is Why We Blog, I spoke about one of our juicy details of why we blog. I’m picking up where I left off. The last thing I mentioned is that we want to reach a goal, no matter how long it takes us, to make $30,000.00 from our website (including other adventures).

So why exactly do we want a goal of $30,000? Why not more? Why not infinity?

Well hey, if we get more and if it’s for infinity then bring on the mulah baby! If not, that’s okay, God has a plan and if he wants this to be a success, then he’ll make it happen.

Back to the goal. For those of you who know us personally, we live out in the country. It’s a subdivision planted in the middle of no-where. Well, this is going to shock the heck out of you if you know us, my husband wants to move even further away! I can hear the gasps now. He would really like to live on some acreage, have a garden big enough to feed our family for a year, and have lots of wooded trees (and a wood burning fireplace).

Now before you guys tell us we’re insane, let me tell you why we want this.

We live in a subdivision where we are required to pay an HOA every year. We can’t do anything to the exterior of our home without super strict guidance from the HOA. We can’t have a small garden in our backyard. We can’t put solar panels on our roof. Whatever we want to do to our house, we can’t do it at all. We can’t even replace our electric fireplace (which I think a joke) and replace it with a real one if we wanted too.

And the biggest reason of all why we were thinking about moving, is to have a cheaper mortgage payment. My husband and I gathered a list of things of what we would like to have. We’re going to share them with you.

Our House Wish List

I bet you’re thinking $300 a month, “Are you crazy?! $30,000 won’t get you a $300 a month mortgage payment with the lists you guys are wanting!” Whoa there, friend. You’re absolutely right. We realize this. However we also live in a 4 bedroom 2 bath house 3 car garage. Our house was built in 2007, so we’re not that crazy. I do think in reality, this is what we may end up finding;

The house we will find

Also, my husband has had experience in farming before, so he thinks it will be easy-breazy to have a decent garden. In matter of fact, the below illustration kinda explains it all on what we want to do (minus the farm animals).

Will this work? Will this not? Will we move? Will we stay put? Who knows. It’s nice to dream though, right?

Oh, and here’s the list of others that blog and make a profit from it too. This is their 2011 September Blog income reports.
