October Recap

Well folks, Once a month I’m going to cover some juicy details on how this whole blogging thing is working for us.

I’m going to cover;

  • How close we are to reaching our visitor goal
  • Top 10 keywords this website is known for
  • Blog Income Report October 2011
  • A recap of our posts that we think you should check out, if you haven’t already
  •

    Visitor Goals

    We averaged 171 unique visitors, and about double that with visitors overall. Not bad considering we became live on October 12th. The unique numbers is what we’re keeping an eye on. We would really like to become a part of the SAY Media network. The minimum requirement to get into the network is a website has to have 25,000 monthly viewers. We like Say Media because the advertisements are clean. Google Adsense also has clean advertisements, but Say Media is more our style. Another thing I like about SAY Media, is it is a part of Six Apart. For those of you who don’t know what Six Apart is, here’s a quick refresher.

    About ten years ago when I first discovered the world of blogging, there was a very famous content management system. In my personal opinion, it was more famous than WordPress. It’s called Movable Type. Movable Type was created by a husband and wife team, and it was open source. Meaning anyone could contribute and help build the platform. Over the past 10 years, I’ve seen it grown, I’ve seen where they charged money for it, and from the looks of it today in 2011, it’s free and open source again.

    However, that husband and wife team were able to build their mini media empire into something grand. They have other resources available that helped them build their brand. The reason why we want to become a part of the SAY Media network is because the brains behind the company started with a blogging publishing platform. Therefore, SAY Media knows bloggers. I feel comfortable conducting business with a company that knows about my business, which is blogging.

    The Top 10 Keywords

    Amazingly, the top ten keywords make me think I should start a blog dedicated to kitchen things only. :) These are what people typed into a search engine (yahoo, google, bing, etc). Through their search, they found my website and clicked on my link to find out more.

    They were;

    1. Small Kitchens
    2. Small Kitchen
    3. Small Kitchen Layouts
    4. inetflavour
    5. small kitchen design
    6. small kitchen designs
    7. martha stewart kitchen design
    8. martha stewart kitchens
    9. thanksgiving wreaths
    10. fireplace mantel decor

    The Money We Made From Blogging

    In the 16 days that we were live, we hosted some affiliates. No one that read our website purchased a product, so therefore there was no money made. We did however get into an advertising program in November, and it’s already making us profits. How much? We’ll cover that next month. We have to follow precise rules with our affiliates and advertisement networks. You may have noticed some changes on this blog (such as a privacy notice, etc), that complies with our affiliates/advertisers rules.

    If you missed it, the posts we think you should read;
