As much as I would love to whip up a bunch of before and after of our updated house tour, I’ve learned that is literally impossible. Why? This photo should explain why I can’t have a fancy before and progress pictures of our whole entire house for all of you to see in one post.
That is Chloe and Emme. My little babies that are 11 months and 1 week apart. Jeremiah and I got them a red wagon for Christmas, which they absolutely love. We pushed them around in the house for about two weeks and all you can hear is a bunch of laughing and “Wwwweeee!!!”
Because of my ever-demanding little munchkins, I learned that I’m going to have to share one room at a time with you guys. I can’t get the whole house to stay clean for a photo session. Oh, and there’s a sneak peek in this picture with my kids. Can you guess what project is on our to-do list?
Remember back when I showed you a tour of our new house? In that post, there was a view of our new kitchen. Here’s a photo so you guys can refresh your memory.
Since our house was a foreclosure, the kitchen cabinets are in relatively good shape. The house is 16 years old, but the insides of the cabinets aren’t stained or anything of that sort. What I like about the cabinets is there’s a lot of them compared to our old house. Hello lots of space!
So you saw us move into the kitchen, where everything was a hot mess. You watched us install our new appliances, which we got for a great deal.
After the dust has been settled, the floors have been cleaned, and almost all the appliances except our dishwasher has been installed… I can now show you guys what it looks like today.
There’s no fancy decoration happening in here just yet. The decor that I would love to add is a fabulous new rug that would fit perfectly in the kitchen. Our floors are cold during the winter, and I often wish I had a rug all over the house to warm up the place.
You’ll see in the photo above that we decorated our kitchen counter with an oval basket to store miscellaneous items such as kleenex, supplements, baby lotion, bottles, and all the receipts. All those things land in this basket. I wouldn’t consider it decoration per say, I think its far from beautiful but it’s functional for us right now. We’ll get to the painting (walls, cabinets) and decor later at another time. First thing is first, we have to get this house functioning and energy efficient. We’re all about saving money (proof).
By the refrigerator, this basket contains almost everything. From paint chips, a kitchen timer that I use to help potty-train and whatever other miscellaneous things. This is our junk basket. On the other side of the fridge is the exit to the garage and our laundry room that is desperate for some TLC – much like the rest of the house.
For comparison, here’s another before shot for you…
And then after.
There’s so much more work to do. I wish we can be done with it all at once. I know it hasn’t been a month since we moved in, but I’m ready for it to feel more cozy in this new house of ours.
Have a great weekend everyone!
