January Blog Income Report – $864.60

Blog Income Report

Hi Friends,

Each month I share with you how I make money online. I use my skills and monetize them. I share this information with you because;

1) It’s motivating to others
2) I want to document my progress, my failures, and hold myself accountable
3) I want to try to break the standard blog that makes money online by blogging about making money online

These reports are supposed to be inspirational and educational. Inspiration to others and educational for myself and you. I always found it inspiring how others can make a living online. This is my way of sharing my success and failures. I live and learn from my mistakes and I like to look back on these posts to see how far I’ve come.

My goal for #3 is an interesting one. I find it inspiring that others can make $50,000 in one month from blogging and using other various tools and resources on the internet. I notice that these blogs who make a high income each month profit by talking about “niche” sites and “making money online.” My goal is to prove that others can make a profit from blogging online, without having to talk about “how I make money blogging online” in every single post.

This report does not include what my husband or I make outside of the internet, it only includes what I make online.

THE INCOME

Etsy: $376.93
Zazzle: $319.93
Zazzle Bonus: $164.59
Adsense: $3.15

Affiliates: $0.00

Total Gross: $864.60

MAKING MONEY

Etsy

I created a few more products to match the current wedding stationary that was already in the shop. I noticed a new trend. The more options of matching stationary I have, the more people will buy the matching sets. I like to believe that it increased my sales.

I was closed during the last week of January, and I missed out on some sales. How do I know this? Because some customers e-mailed me trying to figure out how to make a purchase when my shop was on vacation. After I came back from vacation, they haven’t made a purchase. When a client is ready to buy, I discovered that I need to be ready too or they may find another product within a few days that they like better.

It’s okay if a customer ends up not making a purchase. I am a one-woman business and sometimes the Etsy shop will have to close.

I also changed my turn-around time to three days. This allows me to have time and work on my zazzle store only when I have a couple of customers.

Zazzle

I haven’t created a lot of templates for Zazzle in the month of January. I feel like I hardly got a chance to work on it at all. Between our trip to Nebraska, painting Chloe’s room and being a domestic housewife has left me little time to spare. It’s a God thing that I made the sales I did. I also noticed that other random non-popular templates were purchased. It made me glad that the hard work I did to create them was finally seeing some fruits of my labor.

It’s true what they say, the more templates you have the more money you’ll make.

Zazzle also redesigned their image-upload interface to make it more friendly.  It looks like they are finally listening to their graphic designers and are making necessary changes to their website and user interface.  This makes me one happy graphic designer since I had expressed frustration about this before.

I also made it to the Basic ProSeller level with Zazzle after they finally paid me in January.

Zazzle labels their graphic designers with “badges” based on how much a graphic designer was able to earn in one year.  With the way things have been going for me, I’m 100% positive that I’ll make it to the Bronze level this year.  My zazzle stats say I’m very close to making the Bronze level.  However due to Zazzles very delayed payment process, it’ll be a while before I make it to Bronze.  The Silver ProSeller level would be a dream come true.  I imagine it will take another year or two before I reach the Silver ProSeller level, but you never know.  I’ll have to be real lucky.

Zazzle Pro Seller Program

Less than 6 months ago I didn’t pay attention to Zazzle because it frustrated me.  Now I’m shocked at how much I’ve succeeded at it so far.

Adsense

Adsense is only on this blog to make some pennies. I’ve given up on it. I don’t have a lot of time driving traffic to the blog when I have my hands in too many honey-pots. AKA; too many projects and not enough time.

That’s all I have for our January Income Report on how we make money online. Leave a comment with any suggestions, questions or helpful hints/tricks. Thank you for reading, purchasing and making this a success!

I love these posts! It really gives bloggers a good idea of what to expect from ads on their sites. I’ve been talking to several bloggers about this lately and it’s in many ways a false illusion that you can make millions off of your ads IF you’re not a blogger that gets millions of views a month and can afford to command sponsors and ad space at big costs.

That is true! I believe most bloggers start with around 100,000 page views a month to make it worth it to an advertiser. That’s what I’ve been seeing at least. :)

Thanks so much for coming by Five Sixteenths! I actually found your blog when looking for more info about selling on Zazzle! I’ve found your monthly income posts informative & encouraging!

After moving to Indiana & being unable to find a job I decided to try to put more of my Graphic design skills to work. I’ve only made a few sales….but it’s been a fun experience.

I’m glad I could refer traffic to you!!!
