Get a Sneak-Peek into our Home [A Home Tour]

March 14th, 2012 | Comment

Fall For Design isn’t all about creating a design company. It’s also about beauty and design. While our house is still a canvas, I wanted to give you guys a tour, or a sneak-peek. I have many, many ideas that I want to do to this house and I can’t wait to get them started. Let me introduce you to our very, very blank canvas home.

We purchased our house in April 2009. It was a foreclosure priced at $120,000. The house was originally priced for well over $120,000 in 2007. Our neighbor told us the home was priced over $250k. That price may have been a reality a long time ago before the housing bust. Our house has 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, a 3 car garage and a little over 1730 square feet. We made a down payment and secured a loan at 4.75%. Our loan is $90,000.00. Since it’s been three years and we’ve made monthly on-time payments, our total debt is less than $86,000.

Yes, you read that right. We’re not even 32 years old and we own a wonderful home with a balance of $86,000. Can I get a heck yeah?!

Now onto the house tour.

This picture was what our house looked like when we purchased it in 2009. I didn’t take a before picture of it, so I had to shamelessly steal it from google maps.

House Before Pictures

Whoa, that’s a lot of garage, right? Well, it is. It’s perfect for us though. As I said before, we have lived in our house for almost three years. Since then, we did a yard make-over. We had a sprinkler system put in, a privacy fence, seed, and a flower bed. It was obvious from our “before” picture that we needed some major curb appeal. Here’s the glory of the progress.

This is probably the only picture you will get of me until we can hire a professional family portrait photographer.

Here’s a sneak-peek at our youngest daughter’s room. We absolutely love it. It’s the only room in the house that isn’t all brown! We had painted all the walls a shade of brown because we thought we were going to sale our house to purchase a dream home. Emme’s room is decorated in gray, white, black and pink.

Our living room is where we spend most of our time. It’s usually cluttered with toys. However I carefully stuck them behind furniture so I can take this picture. I hate clutter, and you wouldn’t be able to see the size of this room with all the toys in the picture. As for the kitchen? Oh man, there’s no justice in that room. It’s a sight for sore eyes! You can see a little bit of the dinning area in this photo.

This is our hall bath. The curtain was an item I already had before marriage. This isn’t exactly my style. I’m so over this and I’m ready to move on and do something fun. But the style isn’t exactly that worn. It’s hard for me to sit down and make a purchase for something that isn’t broken when we’re on such a tight budget. Maybe one of these days we’ll have the money to buy anything we want. Wouldn’t that be a dream!

So what do you think of our home tour sneak peek? Do you want more of it? Do you want to see how we turn our current house into a design beauty? Do you want to see how we do that with a very tiny small budget? What are your thoughts? What do you want to see more of?

Pst – Oops. I just realized my “about” page has been missing. How the heck did that happen? It’s back now folks.

If you really want to learn how to properly set you thanksgiving table, why not have a visual aid? (The Classy Woman) Who would have thought this setting would actually be called informal? If our family set the table, I guess our table setting would be called “informal x2.” Usually one spoon and fork is good enough for us.
